The Earth, the 25th century. This is the world where people have an opportunity to transfer human mind from one body to another. This is an ideal world for criminals and for cops and for military. But it may be wrong for ex marine Takeshi Kovacs who was hired by a billionaire named Bancroft to investigate a death of one of his bodies. It looks like a suicide at the first sight. In fact, this is a homicide. But the memories of the murderer have been destroyed along with the body.
