Best Medicine (season 1)

Best Medicine is a medical comedy drama whose first season follows Dr Martin Best, a brilliant Boston surgeon who abruptly abandons his prestigious career and relocates to a small East Coast fishing village where he spent summers as a child. Used to big city hospitals and strict routines, he struggles to adapt to a close knit community where everyone knows each others secrets and expects their doctor to be part of the town, not just a distant professional. His exceptional diagnostic skills quickly prove life saving, but his blunt and often rude manner alienates the quirky locals, who resent his cold attitude even as they rely on his expertise. Throughout the season Martin battles hidden phobias and deep rooted psychological issues that make emotional intimacy almost impossible, even when he starts to develop a fragile connection with a warm local schoolteacher and gets pulled into a hesitant love triangle with the town sheriff. Each episode mixes medical cases with personal conflicts, as Martin is constantly dragged into small town dramas, family feuds, and absurd festivals that slowly force him to confront his past and reconsider what it really means to heal people and to belong somewhere.
