The plot of the series takes us back to 1971 to a remote Navajo outpost near Monument Valley. The main characters, Joe Liphorn, from the tribal police, and his new deputy Jim Chi, begin investigating seemingly unrelated crimes. The closer they get to the truth, the more the past catches up with them. Together, they have to fight not only the forces of evil, but also their own personal demons on the path to salvation.
