Grey’s Anatomy (season 8)

The eighth season of Grey's Anatomy focuses on the fifth-year residents as they face the final challenges before becoming attending surgeons, with their careers and personal lives hanging in the balance. Meredith Grey and Derek Shepherd struggle to save their marriage while trying to adopt Zola, a baby girl they have grown attached to, after Meredith's actions in the previous season's clinical trial cause major fallout at the hospital. Miranda Bailey is deeply hurt by Meredith's actions and Richard Webber takes the blame, stepping down as Chief of Surgery, which leads to Owen Hunt taking over the role. Cristina Yang faces a difficult decision about her pregnancy, choosing to have an abortion, which puts her relationship with Owen under immense strain. Callie Torres and Arizona Robbins continue to co-parent their baby with Mark Sloan, who is still involved with Lexie Grey, while Alex Karev deals with the consequences of revealing Meredith's secret, making him an outcast among the residents. Teddy Altman marries Henry Burton, but tragedy strikes when Henry dies suddenly, leaving Teddy devastated.
