Elizabeth is one of 5 daughters of a poor provincial landowner, Mr. Bennett. Unfortunately, there are no 1 offspring in the family, so, in case of Mr. Bennet's death, all their property will pass to their distant male relative. When the well-to-do Mr. Bingley and his friend, the obscure and even more well-to-do Mr. Darcy, appear in the neighborhood, Mrs. Bennet begins to harbor great hopes for the quick marriage of one of her daughters. Mr. Bingley turns his attention to Bennet's older sister, the beautiful Jane. But the proud Mr. Darcy does not approve of his friend's infatuation and rushes to put an end to it, but he himself suddenly becomes infatuated with Elizabeth.rn
