Shrinking (season 3)

Shrinking season 3 continues to follow therapist Jimmy Laird as he tries to live after finally accepting his grief and beginning to move on from his wifes death. The new season focuses on how his bold therapeutic style affects not only his patients but also his attempt to build a more stable life for his daughter Alice while opening himself up to the possibility of a new relationship. At work Jimmy keeps pushing his unconventional approach, which forces his clients to face painful truths faster than they expect and often leads to chaotic but transformative breakthroughs. At the same time he struggles with the fear that moving forward romantically will betray the memory of his wife, so his growing connection with Sofi tests whether he can imagine real happiness again. Alice enters a new phase of independence as she prepares for adulthood, trying to define herself outside of her fathers grief and the protective circle of neighbors and family friends. Her evolving relationships at home and school show how children process loss differently from adults, and her tension with Jimmy often comes from their separate ideas of what moving on should look like.
