In a collision with a nuclear submarine of the U.S. Navy, an MSDF submarine crashes, crushing its commander, Shiro Kaieda, and all 76 of its crew members. Although the crew survives, the ship remains intact. Using the accident as a cover story, the Japanese and American governments secretly built the nuclear submarine Seabat with the crew from the MSDF submarine. Suddenly, Kaieda mutinies and flees after loading the Seabat with nuclear missiles.rn
