Washington Black (season 1)

This eight-part adaptation of Esi Edugyan's novel of the same name is set in the 19th century. 11-year-old George Washington Black (Eddie Karanja) is a slave on a sugar plantation in Barbados. He is a very dreamy and inquisitive boy whose scientific curiosity one day attracts the attention of the cane land owner's brother, eccentric inventor Christopher Titch Wild (Ellis). When a threat looms over Vash's life, Wilde helps him escape in a flying car, and the characters embark on a thrilling journey. Simultaneously with these events, the viewer follows the story of the now grown Vash (Ernest Kingsley, Jr.), who settles in Nova Scotia, becomes an apprentice to Medwin Harris (Brown), a leader in the black community, and falls in love for the first time.
