Barracuda (season 1)

Set in Melbourne in 1996, the story follows Danny Kelly, a talented teenage swimmer from a working-class, mixed Greek and Scottish background. Danny earns a sports scholarship to an elite private boys' school, bringing him one step closer to his dream of winning Olympic gold at the 2000 Sydney Games. However, he faces significant challenges adapting to the privileged environment, including snobbish and racist hostility from other students. Under the guidance of respected coach Frank Torma and through a complex friendship and rivalry with star teammate Martin Taylor, Danny strives to become Australia's youngest swimming champion - the unstoppable Barracuda. The series delves into the intense demands placed on young athletes, their families, and their coaches, as well as the emotional highs and devastating risks of chasing greatness.
