A shocking event occurs in New Jersey: the captain of the high school lacrosse team, Haley McQuade, disappears without a trace. The public and the justice system unanimously blamed social worker Dan Merces for the crime. His life and reputation was completely ruined by the stigma of being a sex maniac and a child molester. Later, all the evidence against the man was refuted, but society continued to view him and his family negatively. The case was taken up by ambitious reporter Emma Garay, who is known for her investigative journalism and finding criminals who try to escape from the court.
