It is clear that Theodore Roosevelt is headed for greatness, as he comes from a prominent family, is a rising politician, and his wife, Alice, is in the midst of being pregnant. As his promising future unfolded, tragedy struck. As a result of his mother's typhoid infection, Alice also died during childbirth on the same day. As a result of this tragedy, Teddy flees his urban life of high rises and high society for the desolate Dakota Territory to reinvent himself. By facing the harsh conditions of life on the frontier of America, Teddy hopes to reinvent himself into something better.rn
