The Boys (season 5)

Season 5 of The Boys takes place in a United States that has fully fallen under Homelander's control, where Vought's superheroes enforce a brutal new order and civil liberties disappear. The Boys are scattered and broken after the events of the previous season, but Homelander's growing instability and the emergence of a superkilling virus force every character to decide how far they are willing to go to stop him. The story follows Hughie, Mother's Milk and Frenchie as they struggle to survive imprisonment in a so called Freedom Camp while Annie fights to build an underground resistance and keep the idea of real heroism alive. At the same time Butcher returns with terminal health issues and a single ruthless plan that revolves around the stolen virus, blurring the line between vengeance and genocide as he targets every supe without distinction. Old allies and enemies resurface, political tensions explode at the highest levels of government and personal relationships are tested to the breaking point, leading to a final confrontation where the fate of both ordinary people and supes depends on whether the characters can overcome their own anger, guilt and desire for power long enough to stop Homelander once and for all.
