Stella (season 2)

The second season of Stella continues the story of Stella Morris, a forty something divorced mother raising three children in the small Welsh village of Pontyberry. Stella runs an ironing business while managing the chaos created by her kids. Her eldest son Luke is in prison for drug dealing, her sixteen year old daughter Emma is gorgeous and lazy but head over heels in love, and thirteen year old Ben constantly gets into trouble with his natural curiosity. Stella faces new challenges each day as her relatives and neighbors complicate her already hectic life. Her ex husband Karl and the charming Sean are both part of her messy world. The season portrays working class family life in South Wales through a mix of comedy and heartfelt drama. Stella never complains about her tough circumstances because she is a strong woman who has done her best for her children. Every episode shows her dealing with financial struggles, relationship problems, and social awkwardness while remaining the rock her family depends on. Ruth Jones, who also created Gavin and Stella, writes this warm portrayal of a woman juggling everything alone in rural Wales.
