Jake and the Fatman (season 4)

In the fourth season of Jake and the Fatman which aired from September 1990 to May 1991 on CBS the action returns to Los Angeles after one and a half seasons set in Hawaii. District Attorney J. L. McCabe known as the Fatman continues solving cases with his gruff personality and willingness to break rules when necessary. His partner Jake Style a handsome and carefree special investigator often works undercover to gather evidence for the Fatman. The Fatman office also includes enthusiastic newcomer Derek Mitchell an assistant prosecutor and sarcastic secretary Gertrude. This season consists of twenty four episodes. The Fatman has an outstanding conviction record but these same qualities have earned him many enemies. The cynical prosecutor often crosses boundaries even legal ones while pursuing criminals. In episode nineteen actor Dick Van Dyke appears as Dr. Mark Sloan a doctor who solves crimes and this episode later led to the creation of the series Diagnosis Murder. McCabe never travels without his pet bulldog named Max. The season maintains the legal drama format with tension investigations and the dynamic partnership between the two lead characters.
