Jake and the Fatman (season 5)

The fifth and final season of Jake and the Fatman aired on CBS from September 18 1991 to May 6 1992 and consists of twenty two episodes set in Los Angeles. Veteran district attorney J. L. Fatman McCabe continues solving cases with the help of his easygoing private investigator partner Jake Styles who frequently goes undercover to gather evidence. McCabe is a tough former Honolulu Police Department officer with a sharp tongue and an unorthodox approach to justice who rarely travels without his pet bulldog Max. The season features diverse criminal cases including illegal weapons dealing murder investigations copycat killings organ trafficking and a stalked rock singer. Notable episodes include a two part premiere where Jake poses as an illegal weapons dealer and stories involving a missing liver serial killer and a man claiming to be the actual murderer during a trial. Jake accidentally shoots a young boy while pursuing a suspect and faces intense pressure when a model known for drug use turns up dead. The season explores themes of revenge when an old flame presumed dead returns and when a man released from prison seeks vengeance against Detective Capshaw.
